Fostering Our Youth Inc. (FOY) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was forged out of a deep calling to inspire and mentor upcoming generations. We are a group of volunteers who are dedicated to helping and supporting youth around the world. We have overcome demanding obstacles and we want to pass on our experiences and lesson learned. In 2016, our founders, Ms. Phi Tran and Mr. Eric Johnson realized the benefits of positive role models because of their struggles navigating adolescence, teenage, and young adult years. After starting from scratch and three years of molding and collaborating with those who shared their stories of personal challenges, experiences, and achievements, FOY became a family and a reality. Together we can spark young kids to strive for excellence in all they do. Making live changes in local and global communities is the way forward for FOY.
Community Outreach
A unique aspect of the outreach portion of FOY is that it can happen at anytime or anywhere due to the inspirational intent and common ground approach of FOY. FOY staff share their stories in the community with youth, especially at our Annual Outreach Month every October. We emphasize that through hard work, dedication and resiliency, all things are possible.
Support Our Mission
Mentorship
The FOY RISE Mentorship Program is an 8-week virtual experience that connects youth with caring mentors who support their growth in resilience, confidence, communication, and leadership. Through weekly mentoring sessions, a structured curriculum, and community-building events, youth gain the skills and support they need to thrive now and in the future.

FOY offers scholarships of $1000 each to high school graduates excelling in academic, community development, and volunteerism. We also partner with donors to create additional scholarships to serve our youth. Our first partnership scholarship is Dorian Gregory Memorial, focusing on a nursing major. Our second partnership scholarship is Joel Van Fears, focusing on a degree in STEM and attending a historically black college or university.
